Personality & Traits

General Overview Gregarious by nature, Mo is the type of woman who is unapologetically authentic. Outspoken, irreverent and bold, her saving grace is a well-honed sense of humour and a tendency not to take herself too seriously. Beyond that, she is driven by optimism, motivated by kindness and carries the kind of energy that seeks to bolster those around her rather than diminish. Mo is the type to go out of her way for anyone, is always the one at parties driving conversation and interaction and yet can be entirely content in her own company even if that does involve a lot of talking out loud to herself.

The term "tough as guts" was invented for people like Mo. She is robust and resilient, level-headed and pragmatic when needed and yet has the ability to meet people where they are at without condescension or contempt. She is, however, fiercely independent and there will always be times where the impact of her constant high-octane lifestyle brings the walls crashing down around her. Mo doesn't succumb to unhappiness or distress easily but she is neither immune to them. Loneliness in particular can be a significant challenge.

She uses her mother's surname because, honestly, she got tired of trying to explain how to pronounce her father's.
Strengths & Weaknesses + Outgoing, optimistic and self-motivated
+ Hard-worker, multi-skilled
+ Views the treatment of the person, not the ailment, as the priority in her work
+ Is generally pretty good at making people feel good about themselves
- Sometimes the victim of her own energy investment and can experience moments of burn-out
- There are limits to how boisterous a person can be before they become too much for some people
- Opinionated people aren't always appreciated
- Could do to tone down the off-duty indulgences. She knows better.
Ambitions Mo does have a bit of restless energy about her that remains untapped because she's not entirely sure herself what the end-goal is. In many respects, she suspects there isn't one, and that an ongoing drive for new and novel experiences will see her redefine herself several times over before her time is done.

For now, she is more or less content to keep a bucket list and just chip away at crossing things off it. It's quite extensive so it's best not to ask her about it unless you've got some time.
Hobbies & Interests Virtually anything. Mo is a sucker for new experiences and will be the first to put her hand up to try new things. She is quite a sports enthusiast, with a few triathalons under her belt, and will go a round of squash with anyone willing to risk it. She also loves music and dancing, and loves singing, though she has declared herself profoundly inept at learning any kind of musical instrument, possibly due to lack of patience.

Personal History Mo grew up in New Zealand, the middle child of a Maori man and his British wife. Her childhood was a happy, rambunctious one, a mixture of the agricultural rigor of her father's orchards and the artistic influence of her mother's workshop.

Ages 18-21: She was a marine. This proved a grounding experience that taught her discipline enough to make use of her intelligence rather than squandering it on the constant pursuit of a good time.

Ages 21 - 25: From there, she attended nursing school and, after graduating, decided to head back into service by reenslisting with Starfleet.

Age 25 onwards: Has served with Starfleet, both through ship-bound deployments and planet-based hospitals.
